Breeding Jacksons and LLLReptile Question

Hey guys,

I am completely new to breeding Jacksons, and have a question about the Jacksons sold in pet stores. I want to buy a pair of Jacksons and LLLReptile is selling 2 for $150, and this looks like a good deal. My problem is from what I read you shouldn't breed siblings. When I went to LLLreptile today I asked both workers if the Jacksons they have are siblings or not. Neither one knew the answer. Has anyone ever bought reptiles from LLLreptile that would know if they are siblings or not? I am not sure how breeders get their lizards, and what the chances they are siblings. Any help would be great thanks.

The only way to know is if the store knew. And seeing how they don't know just buy one and get another from a different breeder.

LLL sells wild caught Jacksons so I doubt they are related.

Which shop did you go to? When starting out with a pair I'd get them from different shops just to be safe. Even though LLL sells WC Jackson's it doesn't mean they are not related. For example, if they get their Chams from the same importer, those chams were probably caught in the same area. Which means you'll never know. I know it's a long shot but a possiblilty. If your in the So Cal area there are many places to get Jackson's. Just some food for thought. Im sure if you get two from LLL you'll be fine though.

I went to the one in Oceanside. I also went to Pet Kingdom, but theirs didn't look to good. Where are some other reptile stores I can check out?

yeah, the shop in Oceanside has some pretty clueless employees when it comes to chams. Sorry to say as I like LLL and get supplies from them regularly. If I was you I'd get everything i.e. cage, supplies, and set it all up. I'd go to the Reptile Show in Pomona on August 6-7. Well, I'll be there but you should go and I'm sure you can get a great deal on 2 Jackson's. And with everything already set up all you have to do is drop them in.
