Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Jackson's, Male, around 4-5 months old. Been in my care for maybe a month now???
Handling - Twice total
Feeding -I feed once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Usually crickets or super worms small enough for him to gobble. Gutloaded with apples, oranges, squash, carrots... Other things but that's my main.
Supplements - Regular calcium twice a week and d3 once a month
Watering - I mist with warm water for around 3 minute periods usually 2-4 times a day allowing drying periods. This keeps the humidity nice and high when needed, and I definitely do see him drink. He'll drink twice or more a day from my hand for up to a minute or more (squirt bottle).
Fecal Description - Never been tested, all fecals are consistent and normal.
History - Gular edema. Kept in tiny cage before. Has a sort of cleft in his lip, maybe from force feeding or cricket bite.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Entirely screen, 16x16x20 (I know, tiny, but he is tiny too).
Lighting - Lights on at 6:30 am and off at around 7:00 pm. Regular 60 watt bulb and a uvb coil for now.
Temperature - I know his ambient is 68-70 because that's the house temp. Basking is around 80. Measure with dials but I know it's not too hot or cold because it's definitely not hotter than 83 at the most.
Humidity - 80% sometimes throughout the day but I allow drying periods. Again measured with humidity dials...
Plants - No live ones, planning on buying a baby schefflera SOON.
Placement - Cage isn't near any vents. It's fairly close to a window, not close enough for him to see out.
Location - So cal

Current Problem - Okay so my little boy Brave... He acts fine all the time.

Until tonight, I left my room light on and his basking lights off. So obviously he could still see. So he wandered down to the bottom door and started clawing at it and looking out. I opened it up and he wanted nothing to do with me so I took a shower.

Came back and it's 9:10 or so and he is on the floor of the cage looking like he wants to go to sleep right in the center of the bottom door. So I scooped him gently into my hands and put him on a towel and that dried off the bottom of him so then I have him on a fake tree now on my desk right next to me.

Why would he just do that? Is it because he is sick? Because he wants out? I don't get it. His cage is definitely not too small for him, he is like maybe 3-4 inches long at most.

So anyone have an idea?

I will get him to the vets soon (possibly Monty too) so I can figure out what's really wrong but seriously I need advice.

Is he eating and drinking and other wise looking healthy? A vet check up from a qualified chameleon vet is always a good idea if you think there's a problem.

He eats and drinks like a champ. He's a cute little sucker. I think he drinks a bit too much though in my previous thread I stated he's kind of slobbery when drinking.

If he seems ok everywhere else, he may just want to sleep lower down.

My male nosey, Glacier sleeps on the rim of his pot, or in the back corner towards the bottom every night without fail.

I would say a vet check if he keeps acting weird.

:( I hate to be the one that says it but Jacksons are known to just pass away within the first 6 months of their life. They are sensative little ones. Make sure you are taking extra care and lots of love :D

How is he today? Was he acting normal again or still strange ? My baby had a bad day a few months ago where she fell off her tree - she was weird for a couple of hours and then back to normal- it was right before she turned 3 months old so I was really worried - I left work at noon came home and she seemed fine and hasn't done it anything like it again - I did have to take her to the vet for a problem a month later but I don't think they were related

I think maybe he just fell :\ I see him upside down a lot

I already know this. I thought maybe it was 3-4 months but maybe it does go on that long. I hope he doesn't drop.

I think maybe he did just fall. When he falls I'm always there to scoop him up and put him back (and dry him off, sometimes he lands in some water before I have a chance to clean it for the night). I've only seen him fall a total of 3 times and he always likes to jungle gym around and hang upside down and explore so that's probably the case. He's acting good today.

Thinking about you and your little one. You are an awesome keeper- Brave is in good hands!

Thank you. He is doing well today. :)

I so glad he's feeling better - I was worried - he's just the size of Sherlock- with bigger horns - Sherlock was born May 6th - and there were a bunch of threads around that time for unexpected babies- also the big rains used to start around then in Ethiopia when I lived there - I think that second generation Parsons keep to the breeding time table of their ancestors- so he may be a little older than you think and you can worry less- (of course you know that I can't even tell a boy from a girl so I might just be trying to ease your mind)

Me too. I'm glad everything is turning out okay.
