Brand new owner, some questions... (pics)

It is a girl-and your cage should be standing up, not on its side. THe coiled UVB lamps are still known to cause eye issues in chameleons. If you are not sure, I would return in. Chams are very care intensive and females will lay infertile eggs.

I was afraid of that. I guess I will be selling her then. I don't usually turn that light on for it, I use the iguanas light and switch them. That's just what was going on in the picture while I was feeding the iguana. The cage is built like that, that's the way it goes, theres a tray under it and that's the way it came. They sold it with the cage.

She looks OK-but that is a pretty sad cage setup. The bugs must be coming from the substrate-which should not be in there.

Before I got it it went through vet inspection, I was told it was perfectly healthy. It had been living in that cage since it was young, I assume. I will be keeping the cage in the basement from now on until I can sell her, thank you very much for all your help!

No, I don't feel like going through all that, it was changed for me at the petstore. I'm just going to get rid of her as fast as possible.

Sad attitude, Julirs knows what he is talking about. Pet stores are generally a bad place to do research. I hope you sell or return her quick as that is a bad setup and you are unwilling to make any effort. Not that you care but a chameleon needs a linear UVB light, does not need substrate and that cage does stand up straight, you just have the wrong liner (I have several of these cages).
I apologize to everyone else about the rant, I don't care to leave messages that may not seem polite.

No offense or anything Miss Layfield but it sounds like you did no research whats so ever, didn't have any of the right lighting or anything and you just bought her just because. If you did your researching you would of been able to tell the difference between male and females. Now that you know that she is a female your going to give her back to the petstore or sell her without giving her a chance because of flies and her laying eggs, what was even the point of getting her then. Just a waste of time. To ask one question about chameleons. So after you sell her or give her back to the "great living conditions of a petstore." You might as well resign your membership to Chameleon Forums. Sorry for anyone that reads this post.
