Rhacodactylus: The Complete Guide to their Selection and Care (2003) de Vosjoli P, F Fast, A Repashy. Vista, CA, Advanced Visions, Inc. 296 pp.
I've been thinking about getting a gargoyle gecko for the past half year or so, and will probably be finally getting one sometime in the next month. I'd looked at the pet store; they had a couple books on cresties that devoted maybe a couple of pages to gargoyles; I know they're close relatives and the husbandry is comparable, but I wanted a book that would give a little more attention to my Gecko-Of-Choice, rather than treating it as a footnote. There's nearly a hundred pages devoted to the giant geckos (lots of pictures), as well as good-sized sections on the gargoyles and cresties, and smaller sections of other Rhacodactylus.
Since I was already on Amazon, I also picked up
Lizards in an Evolutionary Tree: Ecology and Adaptive Radiation of Anoles (2009) Losos JB. Berkeley, CA, University of California Press. 507 pp.
Science had a good review of it a month or so ago, and it's part of a series of books that also includes Pianka and Vitt's "Lizards: Windows to the Evolution of Diversity", which I really enjoyed. I've only had a chance to glance at it (got both books today), but it looks pretty good. Ecology, evolution and phylogenetics, natural history...
