Bonsai?

Anyone know if Bonsai is considered safe? it's not in the live plant database, so I'm assuming not...

Well that depends on what kind of plant it is. There are several types of trees/plants that are used as bonsai.

I have used bonsai plants that were ficus and elm and have had no problem with them. It all depends on the type of plant it is like rcmike said.

Thanks guys, you're right--many different plants can be used for bonsai. Anyone have pictures of what they did with theirs? I think there's a lot of potential for bonsai plants to look killer in an enclosure!

Though a long term fan of Bonsai , I never considered using them in lizard cages. Far too much work goes into them to risk them being destroyed in my opinion (just me) but I agree, some larger (safe, aka ficus) types would look 'killer'! :)
I'd love to see some too. Might look fantastic in a pygmy cage for example.
Be aware that most species suitable for bonsai, with the possible exception of ficus, generally require exceptionally good lighting and drainage, prefreabley outdoor light.
If you use a species other than ficus, (beware possible toxidity) Perhaps aquire two and rotate weekly to keep them healthy.

Imagine This in a cage!

Bonsai is so cool!

I think there's definitely some hope for using ficus in a cage.. how awesome would this look!
