blue and red ambilobes?

okay just a quick question. I know people on this forum are not into crosses, I'm not going to even pose this question realistically, just in thought.

can you cross a red bar with a blue bar ambilobe, i've read they mate in the wild sometimes.

I can see why most people would want to keep them separate as they both have there distinct benefits, red is beautiful, and so is blue in its own right.

does anyone have any quick links or pics as to wat the offspring would look like if the two of these mated, I don't even want to do it I just like to learn about what happens in the wild so I can understand the species the best I can.

thanks

Excellent question.... same question I emailed to a number of breeders about 6 months ago. The consensus was that any clutch of Ambilobes is likely to produce blue bars and red bars. If the parents are from clutches of one dominant colouration, the likelyhood is that the majority of offspring will follow the parents colouration.

I would be curious to know, if any breeders on this board could share what the "mix" of blue and red bars were that they have experienced in any of their clutches hatched.

I have also wondered the same thing. I have also wondered how they get the purplebar ambilobes like fireball from cruzinchameleons.com. Not to steal your thread but I thought this would also be a good question to add.

I honestly don't see why a Red Bar Ambilobe couldn't be mated to a Blue Bar Ambilobe. They are both from Ambilobe so I don't see a big deal...
It's more then likely being done anyways to create other nice colored Ambilobes anyways since WC females would just say "Ambilobe" coming in. That's just my opinion.
I bet Vincent from Screameleons or Ed and Liddy from ChameleonsOnly could chime in on this one.

I breed Panthers and any of them can be bred, but personally I try to breed my blue bars with females that come from a line of blue barred animals.
The same with my red barred ambilobes. I like my customers to know with some degree of certainty what they will end up with.
This is all of course a personal preferance of my own and plenty of breeders mix locales also and end up with outstanding panthers
