Black Mold

Anybody have any ideas on the quickest way to get rid of black mold on sandblasted grapevines?

Am I supposed to treat these with a sealer or something prior to using so mold doesn't grow on them?

Thanks :)

not all dark mold is the "black mold" but it can be killed by bleach and water solution. porous materials should be soaked in it. i could not find a good site for timeframe but i soaked my grapevine for 30 minutes without damaging them. Mold grows because of damp, dark areas. besure your cages dry at night leaving less chnce for mold.

good luck,

Sean

PS black mold can be toxic to humans check it out on CDC.gov

Hi, do you think I should put water sealant or something ( i really don't know what else to seal it with) so the mold doesn't grow back?

with all the holes and soft wood structure i doubt you could seal it adequately and if you did claws would probably remove sealant

good luck

Sean

they make plastic cage furniture but it may not be cham friendly

LOL.. thanks a bunch, I'll have to find a way.. cant have this mold here.

My last misting is at 5 pm and lights out for them at 8pm. The only thing that's wet are the paper towels at the bottom of the enclosure, everything else is dry.
