Max has had these weird spots now for 3 days - I dont really think they are burns, they are all on one side ( his left) - on the top of his head, the tops of his elbows, foot and knee - if they were burns I have no idea from what, and why his back would also not look like that - but I have never had a cham w/ a burn, so I have never seen one in person - they dont feel any different than his normal skin, and he does not act like they are sore, or tender - could they be a type of bite? he is not acting like anything is in his cage bothering him ( like when he did when the spider got him )he is hand fed, so there are no feeders running lose - he is eating, drinking and doing his thing - he acts no different - do they ever just get "spots" like that ?
thanks for any help -

It looks like they could be burns. Pan had some mild ones that only turned a muted shade of his normal fired up colors once. Other than burns I've only seen spots like that (though much bigger) on half dead chameleons (and he certainly isn't!) On a side note, Max is quite chubby. I would put him on a diet if he isn't already.

LOL - he is on a diet - has been ever since he got here - he was HUGE fat - we were just talking about his weight on a dif/ site on fb - so , if they are burns, would they feel different? I am not saying they are not - but I do not know how he would have gotten them - he can not climb, and how could he burn just those areas ? like , if he burnt his head, how did he not burn his neck/back? not arguing- just trying to figure it out so he does not do it again - I have never seen a burn in person - I am going to see if when he gets his PJ's on, they change color- if they are burns, will they still change color? he is thinking about bed right now- so I am going to spy on him - and see what the spots do

I have no idea what that is! Very strange looking indeed. I think his fat pads are the biggest ones I have ever seen. If he does not eat that much and is on a diet, then maybe there is something else going on for them to be so enlarged.

Glad to hear he's on a weight loss program! :) it looks like his brains are gonna pop out.

Honestly, I can't remember if they changed color. It was so long ago, and it only happened once. Pan got it on his arm and his upper side. I think it was because he used to bask sideways so the closest parts of him were his arms/legs and side. If it is a burn, since he has such a fluffy neck/head, maybe it was closer like his elbows/knees?

no, these are FAT ! lol this is when he very first got here- the fat went even down the back of his neck, and back - he just went to bed, so I am going to see if they change color in his sleep - I will feel so bad if he got a burn - but how on earth could he ??? this will be very upsetting if he has a burn - do they feel different than his reg/ skin? they have no "odd" feeling- he is getting ready for a shed I think - could that cause these weird spots? I get him "out of bed" so to speak - he has moving issues - you know how they change color when they sleep- all of is body changed to "normal" except those spots- and they are still like that -

Pan's didn't feel any different. Felt exactly the same. I would think only bad burns would feel different. I've never had to deal with them myself, thank goodness.

yes, if they are still there in the AM I am going to call the vet - they make me nervous- lol I dont like not knowing what they are - sometimes I think the vet must think all I do is fret about the chams - I dont think I have ever taken just one in - its always a whole cart full - lol - but Olive will NOT be going - YAY - she is 100% fine - so of course, someone else had to step up w/ an issue - LOL

That's how it feels in my house. If it's not one animal, it's another. Recently my dogs have been getting to trouble and I've had to go to the vet 3 times in 3 weeks! And I have to make another trip in the near future! My vet has all my money!

Good luck though. I really think these are just mild burns, but better safe than sorry!

well, they were not there while he was sleeping - but as he wakes, I can see they are still there- I wonder if they could be a bruise - he fell the other day again - not far- but I did not see him, just heard it - I dont know :( I have one on the way in who is going for an X-Ray as soon as he gets here- I will just take them both -
