They really do blend, but some sharp eyed predators will still find them.

yeah but i'd imagine some of the bolder guys don't blend too well... like imagine a solid red body blue bar sitting on that tree..

Well, just to be a hairsplitter for fun, it's not camouflage, but rather "disruptive coloration". The idea isn't to match the surroundings, but to break up the telltale silhouette that helps a predator find lunch.

Not that it matters to the cham! Whatever works works.
