You'll need more plants and cover than that, but I'm sure you'll get right on it. :)

Good luck again!

I suggest your crickets and similar insects will escape from the broader mesh at the top.
You might want to cover the whole thing in flyscreen.

Perfect cage for a Mellari. The UVB bulb is too small for that size cage. You need a 36 or 48 fixture.

that i know as far as the light goes. waited to see how big the cage really was. definately going to get a larger light

I would elevate the basking lamp up off the top of the cage. It looks content sitting at its basking spot but melleri are notorious for getting burned and if it decided to take a stroll up top to get warmer it would have a good chance to get burned.

It looks great. I am starting to get jealous of all you melleri owners!!!:D

Yeah definately going to move it up i had just put her in. the lights turned off an hour later. she actually moved away from it before then. i have alot more work to do.

Courtney, about the lighting Jan has a point. I would get a 48" T-8 fixture from Lowes for 13 bucks and then while you are there buy the 6500K 48" lamps. They come in a pair for like $6. Put one of those in the fixture with a Reptisun 5.0.

If you are going to move his basking purch lower.....then get the 10.0.... but because you ahve chicken wire, it won't block the UVB like screen on the typical screen cage will. so he should be just fine if you keep things the way they are positioned in the above photos. You should also put aluminum foil on the back of the fixture as a reflector. (between the lamp and the frame of the lamp)

Here is a pic of the label for the fixture

the box they come in...

This isn't the same fixture as the above.. but you get the idea...

This is the output of a single 10.0 lamp at 12" (94 micro watts).... This would be too much in your case, so stick to the 5.0.

Here is another example of the foil reflector.

Edit: If ya want to make the lights kick butt and help your plants grow pretty well I was doing some talking with some forum members and a 5000K and a 6500K lamp together really get the plants growing well. So if you got the two diff lamps and put them in the fixture and used your small fixture for UVB right at the basking you could do that. If you were to notice your melleri not basking much near the UVB lamps you might wanna switch to a larger lamp that will cover more of the cage just to be sure he gets his rays. I have heard melleri won't search out UVB.... but I don't know about that... I have four fixtures in my free range and only the two on the back side of the enclosure have UVB lamps.... and I find my guys going back there to hang out... then to the front where the heat lamps are... or sitting at the lamps in the middle to warm up a bit and get UVB rays..... so who knows..... just some food for thought.
