Choose your supplement based on the type of prey being offered and how you gutload that prey. The jackson will want much less supplementation than the v.

These three blog entries provide good info to help you make your own decisions, based on your own particular situation.

I personally use rep-cal, s t miner-al, and repashy. Of thiese, I Primarily i use a phosphorous free calcium powder. Anything with vitamins is used much less, because I gutload properly and use a wide variety of insects (so supplementation is almost unnecessary)

seems like everyone has their own idea of whats right. Here's what I have been doing, which was read from this site. with all my chams i gut load crickets with bug burger and squash and carrots . I dip the carrot in Tom Kilgour's dino Fuel then I have a cup with pre-mixed calcium plus and dino fuel I was dusting everyday I recently found this was way to much for all but especially the xanth. She seems to be the only showing signs of over supplementation. so what would u suggest I do givin that scheldule. OOPs almost forgot i use herptivite and repcal d3 twice a month I was under the misconception that calcium plus was not a d3 product but come to find out it is. So should i order rep cal without d3? I have spray cal which im pretty sure has no d3 in it. It is zilla food spray. I have cut all supplements from the xanths diet givin request by xanthoman. I currently have blatta roaches gutloaded ,silkworms from mulberry farms and pheonix worms and crickets gutloaded I could feed her what would u suggest i give her. Tom said the dino fuel is a 100% organic supplement. the crickets and blattas are gutloaded with it. WHat should i do????

I pound my feeders with fresh fruits and DinoFuel. I dust with Repashy All-in-One every feeding. It's a simple regiment and seems to be doing wonders on my animals. :D

I was doing the same and everyone I talked to said that was fine. Then xanthoman said other wise at least with my xanth. He was kinda rude about it but I understand! He basically said I should know what i'm doing before I own a exotic animal! I've had chameleons since i was 13 i'm now 29. Given they have always been veiled's not jackson's, so maybe I don't know what i'm doing with Xanth's, but saying I shouldn't have something tell I know how to take care of it seemed kinda rude. I am sure everyone has got in over their heads at one point on chameleon husbandry. From what I've seen on here no one has the set in stone best possible way of supplementing schedule. So I took the advice given and read the blog's, but still don't see a posted schedule for species! Maybe I am just incapable of owning them and should give all them away I don't know!

im sure you are capable... the veileds and the panthers should be fine with calium plus at most feedings.
the jax i would used the calium plus 1 time a week and plain calcium at most other feedings.
im sure none of us knew everything before we ever had a cham, and still cant claim to know it all

Lol!
He can be harsh, but he gives awesome information!
Just take it with a grain of salt ;)

You can either use repashy calcium plus ONCE a week.

Or, you can use PLAIN calcium 2-3 times a week(just one feeder each time) and a multivitamin once every 6 weeks.

The lists above are the MOST you should ever probably supplement them, IMO.

The reason there is no set in stone schedule, is because of what sandrachameleon stated.

You could probably do away with most supplementation all together(especially in a xanth) if you got your gutloading down PERFECT.

Since everyone does different things with their gutloading, there can be know set schedule for everyone.

You really have to pay attention to the animal, and "play it by ear" to some extent.

Always use the bare minimum with you xanth.

Here is a great video by forum member Jdog1027 that goes over their care: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKTbUaOQ0aA&context=C4593bdfADvjVQa1PpcFMPBNZ_DyWYPP9wGApnAN7BOLQKfoSUruA=

Every xanth owner should watch it.

I hope you find a way to improve your animal. You are right, possibly over supplementation. Either way, keep up the good work and remember you are on the perfect forum for help. Many of us will do anything to help you and your chameleon. Best of luck! :) Don't let the rude posts bother you. They are just words. Xanth does have pretty chams.

So very true! There are many ways of achieving success. And, regrettably, many paths to failure as well. A supplement schedule that works for one persons situation, even with the same type of chameleon, may not work for another person. We live in different climates, gutload differently, use different brands of supplement, different lighting (brands of bulbs differ, outside is greatly different from inside). What works for a young animal may not work for an adult. What works for a female may not be right for a male.

As you have discovered, what works okay for a veiled is not likely the best for your Jack.

So, what should you do? Well, I suggest you read the links I provided, so that you can determine for yourself what the best plan for your particular situation. Doing lots of reading / educating yourself feels better than hoping other people told you right.

That said, here's something to consider:
If you are using bug burger and diofuel plus a good selection of vegetables etc for gutload to the roaches and crickets (do you gutload the silkworms with anything?) you likely do not need a great deal of supplement on the vitamin side (especially retinol and D3). You will still need phosphorous and vitamin free calcium. You could get rep-cal without D3 or mineral-o and use that instead of the repashy calcium plus most days. Give the Jack very little compared to what you'd give the V. I do not own a jack so I cant add much value to that portion of the discussion, but What Solid Snake suggests sounds about right to me.

Finally, IMHO supplementation should be supplementary. Using a wide variety of gutloaded feeders reduces the need for supplements.
