Best species for a new comer?

New hear.Looking at getting into chameleons and was wondering what a good species is to get into that would be good for a beginner and one that would not take up to much space.I have been researching and i can get vields locally and i am trying to find some pygmys.But would be open to any help.Would like one that is personable and easy to take care of.I heard some can be mean and aggressive.Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. If we knew where you were located it would be much easier to offer ideas. A veiled, that you said is available,is an excellent first chameleon. If you get a young one most times you can work with them. You should know that the size cage when they are adult is 24x24x48, and that is not a small cage.

Veileds are great for beginners because they are cheap and pretty hardy. They can also be unfriendly but you run that risk with any species of chameleon. I would say pick a baby veiled from the bunch that doesn't try to bite you

Thanks.I am located in michigan.And one of my semi local pet sores has 2 vields ( i think they are, they are about 3 inches and all green ).The one has awsome personallity and wanted alot of attention when you were at the front of the cage.

Take care of the gender too when you choose your cham, with a female you have to plan eggs deposition for example.
When I took my Kevin he was the less friendly, but also the only male inside the group, so I picked him up anyway

Yeah i see that.What do you recommend for a new comer and something that would be easy and not take up too much room.If i can't find them locally i will end up ordering online which wont be till spring or so then since it is winter hear,.

Before buying the chameleon, i suggest you take a few pictures and host them here. Often, chameleons aren't treated well in petstores, and can be sick.
