Best cleaning solution?

Use water, dishsoap, and bleach. 10:1:1 use this ratio in the order that I posted the cleaning solutions. 1 = half a liter (so 5 liters of water, 0.5 liters of dishsoap and bleach. I use this and it works perfectly

I use 40 volume peroxide, the kind you buy in a beauty supply store not the drug store. It's the only thing that will kill everything including coccidia. When we go to the trouble of breaking down free ranges, vines and branches it's the 40 volume provide and the steamer.

Water and vinegar is probably the cheapest option for regular cleanings. You could do the occasional deep cleaning with the super strong peroxide. Just don't buy the super strong peroxide in bulk! Homeland security might come knocking on your door. Also, keep in mind that a concentration that high can be toxic, even fatal if ingested. It should be kept secured away from children (who might well have seen Mommy or Daddy rinsing their mouths with the safe, lower concentrated version bought at the drug store).

Jann do you spray that on everything full strength? What about the plants?

We have used it for year when Dave Weldon recommend it after Luie had coccidia. We spray EVERYTHING down full strength, it doesn't even hurt the plants, let it set for awhile and you can see it bubble killing the germs, then rinse well with hot water or usually the steamer.

Thank you that is what I needed to know. Coccidia is a nasty one and I don't want to even take the chance. Glad also to know it will not kill off my plants. :)

I used to use hot water, soapy water, or vinegar. I only use this stuff now (for ground cleaning), for glass it's this or soapy water.

This is the best stuff for a simple 5 minute clean, it neutralizes any smells, is antibacterial, and does a great job cleaning stuff up. You can also buy refills at a cost savings which is handy.

When I REALLY need a deep cleaning, I use the strongest peroxide I can get as well....usually 35%.

Edit: it should be noted that I remove the chameleons from their enclosures when I use this. Usually to the shower for 15-20 mins so this stuff has time to dissipate before I put them back in.

I just looked at Syn's thread on Nolvasan and found a pretty intense "how to use safely" warning on the super strong Hydrogen Peroxide from Dave Wheldon.

Anything above 3% needs a cautionary note. 12%, for example, will definitely chemically oxidize your skin to the point of pain and damage! The rapid oxidation feels like an acid burn and turns the contacted skin surface white. If you get it on your skin, rinse it off right away. Don't wait the many seconds for the pain to start.

i used vinegar to clean the plants, mostly to get hard water off. warm water and vinegar then aired it out for a while, it works if you dont mind the smell, it also kills bacteria i heard. not 100% on that last part tho. i hate the smell of it tho so im also looking for alternatives aswell.
