can anyone link me to a thread about behaviour, i've got my first ever pet chameleon and its completely different to owning any other reptile. For one he seems really intellegent but at the same time not. he wants to get out his enclosure quite alot he knows where the doors are and pushes at them but this is Scotland theres nothing outside of it for him but coldness and no food or water he wouldnt last more than a couple hours outside it surely, also he hates me. Guess im just after some reading material, no huge concerns.

I don't know of any links that are specifically about behavior...but I'm sure people on here can tell you some things.

How old is your chameleon? Male veiled?
Can you post a photo of the cage set up?

Behavior

Well, I'd say if you just brought him home over 24 hours ago, he is just "inspecting" his surroundings.... wanting to see whats around :) He will get comfortable soon and settle down... I'm not sure if there is anything out on just behavior - but as the previous poster said, there is probably a TON of owners on here that can explain a little better than me!

"He" is six months i have him in the largest exo-terra terrarium you can get 450mmx450mmx2ft. i live in scotland so theres no chance of him ever being too warm. He's been living with us for a week now the humidity never drops below 50 the temp i'm manging to keep aroud 27C and his uv and basking bulb are as i've been recomended. i have plans to make the enclosure 1.5ft higher just a home construction that would just be mesh with a wooden frame. does he need more space? i've learned the aggresion is fairly normal behavoir but the escape attempts are baffling me all i can assume is its maybe too small? he is about 6" head to where the tail starts??

i was just reading about a veiled rescue in idonesia she says he is 6.5" and ppl are saying he is over a year old. my Dylyn i was told is 6 months and only slightly smaller. have i (me and my girlfriend) been tricked into rehoming a much older reptile?

They can do that when they don't like the way the inside of their cage is. Can you fill out the how to ask for help form so we can see if there's anything you should change?
