beetroot & beetroot leaves

Can I use them as gutload? Trying to get my locust to eat something other than kale

Beetroot leaves are relatively high in oxalates (prevents absorption of Calcium). Some is absolutely fine, just not everyday. Locusts will happily eat Dandelion leaves and Rocket (Arugula). These are higher Calcium and can be fed all the time.

ah ok, thanks. I have some that needs using up & I didn't want to throw it away. I'll go get some rocket instead though

My locusts LOVE rocket! They also love wheatgrass if you happen to be green fingered!

agree.
basil, mint, apple, alfalfa, ground grains and seeds are also options.
