Basking light: does it have to be a white bulb?

I saw a thread on here where someone said you had to use a white household bulb.. mine is completely clear. Is this just as good or do I need to go get a white one?

Clear is fine, they would have ment white light opposed to the red bulbs some people use for whatever reason

Just a clear regular house light I got from walmart. This is used as a basking light so the chameleon can get more heat if it wants. You also need a UVB light like the Reptisun 5.0.
