Bark .....phloem

I wonder if plants are a source of moisture/ hydration, to some degree. Some of my insects get hydration from their food, only (grasshoppers + lettuce / oak leaves).

The basis for that very amateur theory is that I’ve noticed Clarice has a preference for juicy, tender plants. She enjoys kale... but I’ve noticed if I offer freshly washed kale, she looks around the (large) leaf and strategically chooses her bites. She tends to go for the areas with water droplets/glistening. I’ve also watched her completely decimate a new plant (a philodendron) that had dainty, long, tender leaves. She ate a long leaf over a day or so... but then realized the stem (similar crunch and shape as celery) was a better choice. I watched her bite a stem in half, dropping the leaf and continuing to munch on the stem. The stem seemed a bit “oozy” and juicy. I’m glad she enjoyed it as she destroyed every stem and I’ve never come across another philodendron like it!!
