“This is an open letter to the EU Commission, relating to the planned future total ban on all incandescent lamps including halogens, and all fluorescent lamps including compact lamps and tubes, also mercury vapour and metal halides. At present there are NO EXEMPTIONS for the specialist products we need for basking and UV.
This letter, from 59 organisations representing countries across the EU and UK, urgently requests revision of the document and outlines eloquently the vital importance of allowing exceptions to the ban for specialist lighting and heating lamps for our animals.

We urge everyone anywhere in the world to find out what your government is planning regarding the banning of these lamps, and if no exemptions are planned, can you support your local herp organisations, zoos, vets, reptile supply companies, in petitioning your governments about these things?
Imagine the situation, if all our basking lamps and UV lamps are banned altogether from sale...”

It's surreal what we taxpayers hard earned money is spent on. Really now our uvb lights, unbelievable!!! How about these "elected officials" begin focusing on human safety, health, infrastructure, peace, food etc etc. It's extremely worrisome and troublesome! Where does it stop????

Hey on this side of the pond they are even gunning for our ceiling fans lol.

Lets hope the UVB LEDS get going soon. They already have a few out, but none from reptile bulb marketers such as arcadia or zoomed.

I still dont understand the whole bulb ban. If grandpa wants to run a 150 watt incandescent in his living room for $300 a year in electricity, let him. Im more of a "let the market decide" kinda guy. That being said, im glade cfls went the way of the dodo, those ended up being toxic in dumps and only rarely did people recycle them.
