I'm not a wood expert, but you need to make sure you water proof it or it will begin to rot.

I don't use backgrounds as I prefer filling more of the available cage space with live plants. A lot less to keep clean and no worries about rot or mildew.

Ok. well that idea is inn the trash. thanks for the info guys. i thought about it and not worth all the hassle.
