Baby Rangos' handling for the first time

hey guys!

I have a baby veiled chameleon, he is 3 months old and his name is Rango. I got him from FLChams and I had him for about two weeks now. I'm a rookie at having a chameleon so I need some opinions. ☺️

Today was the first day that Rango was exploring outside his terrarium and crawling in my hands and shoulders!
I've been trying to hand feed him for the past few days, just by holding a cricket 6 inches away from him. He never showed interest and today I put a stick like a bridge between my hand and him and he walked on it!! Towards my hand! Completely ignored the cricket, by the way, and just kept walking and exploring. I sneezed (im so sorry baby Rango :( ) and he turned black and got a bit scared. He stayed black for like a minute and then turned bright green! He walked around and explored for a good 30 minutes and then I put him back and added some crickets to the cage.
It's been a really interesting handling experience! He had a pretty strong grip.

However, he did slip one time and fell like 1-2 feet down to the carpet (I was sitting on the floor). He turned black again and then he crawled on my hand and turned bright green and seemed okay! He didn't seem to have any injuries or anything. He walked normal and was keeping the bright colors.

Any advice or opinions? Is that a terrible thing that he slipped? I was very worried but he seems fine and happy.

Congrats on your new baby veiled. I keep veileds and they are totally awesome chameleons and show so much personality. I think allowing him to come out of the cage is a good idea so that he gets use to you and your home. Just be careful not to let him get hurt. If you don't let him out and interact with him on a regular basic he may become territorial and cage aggressive. I have a blog for new keeper that I'm attaching for you below so you can keep little Rango healthy and happy.
