Baby panthers sleeping!!! HELP!!!

Big Panther

Hi guys...

Sooo... these little guys were born on 1/9/13. there are 20 in total that i have split into two 20 gal critter keepers until they are big enough for screen cages. For the first month not one had died or did i notice any sort of problems. They were eating(fruit flies mainly and pinheads when i ran out) and drinking(distilled h2o) fine and with in the past few days(3-4) one has died and and many of its siblings are sleeping during the day and seemingly lethargic(food doesn't interest them and water only wakes them up). They are getting sprayed 3 times a day at least allowing the misting to dry in between. UVB 5.0 linear fluorescent for lighting. I clean their cages roughly every 5 days with antibacterial soap that i thoroughly wash out and dry.I have done my fair share of research and it seems that at this stage its way to early for any help from a vet since their only 2-3 inches long so Im kind of at a standstill. I don't want to loose any more of these guys if theres anything i can do about it!

Any input is greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Colin

.....what to do????????

It is super important that before you breed and during the time your female is gravid. Is to make sure she is getting proper nutrition. Going above and beyond gut loading and making sure she is getting all the nutrients she needs for vital egg formation ex: calcium, vit A and vit B

Making sure she gets these nutrients is going to best case determine how healthy (as long as you incubate right) your neonates will be.

Next make sure your bins stay clean. They are eating pooping machines right now so there is poo and urates touching just about every surface. This will allow for parasite or bacterial infection to get out of control. Anmals this small are impossible to treat.

I dont know any of your care parameters to say if there could be other factors but generally what i stated above is the cause of mass baby deaths. Losing a few is common.

If there are any not showing symptoms I would separate. Maybe try individually to give them water. where you dusting their calcium and supplements to feeders? Sorry your having these issue. Hope you find an answer.

I would add a low watt heat bulb. When I was a less experienced keeper 6 years ago and panthers were still worth 400$ a piece i kept 8 of them with no florescent light and only a heat light. all the babies grew up healthy.
