The set up I got came with a 10.0 uvb bulb is that too much or does it really matter? Also I am working on cleaning my plant and repotting right now. Does it matter what kind of soil I use to repot? I got miracle grow potting mix organic choice. Is that okay? Any help is appreciated! This is my first chameleon and I want everything to be right before I bring him home!

A 5.0 bulb is recommended unless you have a really big cage, which given that you're going to have a baby cham you would want to have a small cage. About the soil, people usually use organic soil but which ever you chose make sure you cover it with river rocks big enough that they cannot be digested by your chameleon. Hello and welcome to the forums. Since you have a baby you should use the 5.0 the 10.0 can be too much for a baby. Because the cages are smaller, the baby may not be able to get out of the light. The 10.0 penetrates 20" into the cage and the 5.0 only 10"
Soil makes a huge difference. If is a miracle grow product that means it has fertilizer. The soil may be organic but the have added fertilizer to it. If that is what you have for soil, just cover the soil completely with stones that are way to large to every fit in your chams mouth. Make sure the soil is covered well and your cham doesn't get the diet trying to chase a cricket.

Thanks for all the info everyone! I will definitely go get a 5.0 then. Another quick question I have is about his basking spot temp. I have been told very differing temps anywhere from 95 to 82. My baby cham is only 2 and a half months so I dont want to over heat him. As for the pot, do you think I can cover the soil with some of the reptile carpet I am using for the bottom of the cage? I was thinking of cutting it to custom fit right over the soil and have little space where the plant can come out from lol

For the soil: You should definitely try to avoid soil with white balls inside. Those are fertilizers (nitrate) and can kill your Cham if swallowed.
Zoomed claims the carpet is safe. But I have no experience with that. I am not sure if the claws of the cham could get stuck there in case they crawl on the floor. Stones or no cover should be fine then. Sometimes they eat dirt. Especially Panthers. Therefor the soil has to be clean.
