My veiled is about 4 months old. i feed him meal worms, and crickets. i spray his cage 3 times a day , and handle him daily. lately he has been avoiding the basking spot and stays at the bottom of the cage. a couple of weeks ago he was mostly at the top. is this anything i should be worried about? he looks super healthy.

yes, it may be too hot. Most people keep their baby veilds in the low 80's like around 82. Try changing your bulb out to the next lowest wattage. how big is your enclosure and what size is it?

Veiled--Brumation?

Hi, all, I'm new to the forum. I've successfully kept iguanas for nigh on 20 yrs (my old men are 16 & 18) but rescued a veiled cham from the vet hosp where I take my oldest ig (he has cancer.)
ANYHOW, Leon (cham) is approx 8 - 10 mos old (JUST A GUESS) & has done well, eaten well, etc. (He was originally hospitalized for PARALYSIS, long story, owner desertion, blahblah, but now he can walk!) NOW he's hanging out in the bottom of his tall cage, burrows under the towels, isn't eating. Is this BRUMATION? Our night/morning temps dropped last week from the 70s to the 50s. Is this seasonal? Please help! He has a vet appt on Tues, but I'm just freaking out, hoping he'll last the 3 day holiday wknd. MANY THANKS!!!!

Hello, welcome to the forum :) since you have questions it would be much better if you could start a new thread. Discussing possible problems can get confusing with extra Chameleons involved. If your temps have changed a lot then that could well be the issue.
If you fill out the 'how to ask for help' form that would also make it much easier to help -

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
Location - Where are you geographically located?

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.
