Automatic Mister Questions

I ordered an aquazamp last night for a 3 month old panther I'll be getting and starting in a 2x2x4. I was wondering if you guys could answer a few questions. What is your misting and light schedule? How much distiller water is this thing going to consume? Also, Ive read that baby panthers can drown in a drop of water on their nose and mouth, can this happen to 3 month olds, and would my aquazamp cause this?

Hello congrats on the misting system you will enjoy it for sure.
my schedual is
lights 7am -730pm
misting
30 sec at 7am
8 min at 9
3 min at 12
3min at 3

in the summer the lights will stay on til 830 and I up the noon misiting to 5 min and add a 6pm 2 min misting.

I use RO water as is is less stripped of benifical minerals than distilled, I run 16 cages on that schedual so I cnat really tell you how much water you will go through with a single cage. I would guess about 5 gallons a week.
You do have to be carefull with water droplets on the face of small chams, if you are in doubt use shorter mistings and pay attention to the water dropplets.

I go through 5 gallons every 2 weeks with 4 cages with my MistKing that comes on 4 times a day for 2-3 minutes each for half the week and then the other half 4 times still but the middle time is 6 minutes and the rest are 2.

Oh that's a relief, I thought I'd blow through a lot more water than that. I have a fish store a few minutes from my house that sells RO water, I think it's like 4 bucks for 5 gallons. However, I was planning on getting an RO unit if it used a lot but now I'm not sure if I still want to. Wait a sec, I'm supposed to have it spraying for 8 minutes! I thought it would be 30 seconds max.

Some of us think that a misting session at least a couple of minutes long is best. I feel as if 30 seconds isn't enough to get good water deposited on the leaves and that chameleons aren't really stimulated to drink for around a minute anyway. There's no right or wrong duration as long as your chameleon is well hydrated but we like to give them at least one or two mistings a day that are a few minutes long.

At least you don't have to do 15-20 minute sessions, like I have to do with my Meller's!

Do you have a saltwater fish store around you? Most (at least the good ones) use RO/DI water in their systems and sell the water at about a dollar a gallon. I had my own unit for my tanks long before I got into the cham thing but sold it when I moved to college. Now I buy store water. lol

do you guys have a schedule you'd actually recommend I start at for my situation in particular? Baby panther in 2x2x4 w/ one nozzle.

It's ultimately up to you, but I would do at least 3-4 sessions a day. And remember that things have to dry up as much as possible between sessions, so that might affect your times too.

But let's say that you do your first 30-60 minutes after lights come on. Your last one a couple hours before lights go off (depending how long it all takes to dry) and you space out one or two more in between.

I would make either the first or the second session the longest, and the others can be shorter.

So let's say that, as an example:

Lights on at 7:00 am
1st session at 8:00 am for 3-5+ minutes
2nd session at 1:00 pm for 2 minutes
3rd session at 5:00 pm for 2 minutes
Lights off at 7:00 pm
