Attempting to cup feed

I'm attempting to cup feed my Jackson chameleon and it's not going as well as I thought. I have them in a plastic cup that's propped up in some branches. It's a 16 oz plastic drinking cup. I have 4 crickets in there now and he perches by then but for some reason won't hit them. I've succeeded in tong feeding him about 3 crickets so far. First time in a week of owning him. Idk if he needs to get used to the cup but I left it in there all day yesterday and the crickets just died. Any tips for success?! Thanks everyone

It just may take him more time to get used to such a different way to
get his food.
I have had a cricket feeder in Squee's cage now for 2 or 3 weeks and he
hasnt used it yet!!

it can take up to a week or two for a cham to get settled into a new home and they may not eat at all or not very much during that time. dont stress, he will eat when hes ready! what i did when i brought my baby veiled home was took a small bowl the crickets couldnt get out of and set it in the viv by some foliage so he could climb down till he was right about it and snatch em up as he wanted. i would say hes probably not quite settled in yet and will eat when hes ready! he will not starve himself! just make sure you have fresh water dripping for him so he has ample chances to drink and whenever he's all settled in he should get used to feeding. after my veiled started eating good i did the cup feeding and let some crickets loose in his viv and i think he liked the opinion of hunting them down or just snatching them out of the bowl

I put a branch over an 18" party bowl. Then worked the cup size down.

thats smart! i used a fairly small bowl i made, little bit smaller then a cereal bowl and he used it alot! after he shed the first time and had grown i noticed he chased down more of the free range ones and only ate the ones out of the bowl when he was feeling lazy.
