My male side-blotched lizard (they are about the size of house gecko, just as fats and are in iguanid family)and I had an accident the other day and he broke his tail about half way down about 1/3 to 1/2 through. I immediately put silvadene on it then wrapped piece of toilet tissue around it to use as a band-aid to help keep things in place. he spent the first night in a plain enclosure with just cork bark and paper towel but I can't use a strong basking light with it (they live in sand and bury themselves at night) so he is back in a single tank 9spearted from his wife to keep antics to a minimum).
I do not want him to lose his beautiful blue tail and of course do not want it to get infected. Anything else I can do? Waiting to hear from my vet. Bringing him in would be tough, they are extremely quick and I'd be afraid he would get lose. As it is very hard to treat him. I have to "hypnotize him" in order to get anything done.
thanks
