anyone ever used a bromeliad in their inclosure?

i would like to add some color and tropic feeling to my chams cage and was wondering if anyone has ever used a bromeliad plant in their enclosure, or if itll even grow or if its toxic or not.... anyone have any other suggestions to add some color to my cage?

Also wondering if its better to use newspaper at the bottom of the cage or not?

I would not use newspaper, totally soggy mess. I would due paper towels or nothing.
I have used bromeliad in my Williamsi gecko terrarium and it worked well. I use orchids in my Cham cages. I have a couple in bloom right now. I only buy smaller specimens and I like the hanging orchids.
