Ankaramy X Nosy Mitsio

i was talking to my friend the other day and i was telling him about about all the locales of panther chams, so then he presented me with a question that i never thought of.....has there been an Ankaramy/Nosy Mitsio cross?

Please don't cross breed, yeah it's exciting to see 'what' you might get but that is not professional. If you do and you plan on selling them, label them CROSS BRED/IDK so anyone buying one will know what they are getting. You can't tell when they are young and that is deceiving the buyer.

I think cross breeds are fine to kept strictly as pets, he never said he was going to breed and never said anything about selling them, all he asked was, has an Ankaramy been crossed with a Mafana. Why not just sell them as what they are ie. Nosy be x Ambilobe etc?

ive never heard or seen of one. there are 2 problems with locating one of these that i can think of right off the bat: first off, these locales are all around more expensive and a LITTLE rarer than most of the other locales. breeding a mitsio to a mitsio or an ankaramy to an ankaramy will get you the PURE locale, which in turn both furthers the amount of this locale in the hobby and causes the price of babies to be more costly. crosses are usually less expensive. the second reason would be that most breeders frown upon cross-breeding locales (not all, just some), especially when doing it with two locales that are rarer. imo its just not worth the time and money. however i can imagine the offspring turning out something incredible, maybe one day someone will surprise us.

I agree with being pets, but when chams are young you don't know what 'true' color they will be you could sell them as just about any locale to some degree.

well i dont plan on crossing locales, or even breeding chameleons anytime soon :p but im just curious what the potential is

I have never seen a cross of these two, or any cross with mitsio in it. However I have seen one ankaramy cross with and ambilobe that was unfreaking believable and an ankaramy crossed with a nosy be that was amazing as well. I believe a member on here has an ankaramy x nosy be and it has pink and blue bars. It's pretty. I personally see no problem with crosses as long as they are labeled so and kept as pets. There are a few exceptions where I approve of the multigeneration crosses and the one that come right to mind is the kammers. They document everything so well and are very good at explaining to the buyer what they are getting and what to do and not do with it. Not to mention their crosses are gorgeous. But them, like most breeders, have many more pure locales and do not cross rarer locales that have captive populations still in need of a boost to lighten up the importation demand on them such as the faly's or mitsio's.

Without doing it and seeing the outcome i don't think anyone can say it would turn out like crap. But I would not cross breed locales knowingly anyway. Im looking to get my male faly a gf right now. It can be harder to find the rarer locale females at times but its worth the extra effort too keep bloodlines pure.
