oops - I do not have enough tubing to make the final run - has anyone used any other kind of tube ? I am like 10 feet short - I know the airline for fish will fit in it- but will it stay there ? I dont want a huge mess if it pops out - any suggestions would be great

i am planning on using fish line hose for my set up and now reading your post is making me double think that.

someone just told me you can use water line for ice makers, and that the air line will fit, but is so flimsy, it jumps around - off to home depot :p

I'm not sure what tubing Mistking uses but I have a DIY system and the size looks the same. I use airline in some places and only had a fitting pop out once(probably my fault). It is about the same size as 1/4" R/O tubing you can get at just about any hardware store.

im so cheap im still might try the fish lines lol. your using 1/4 right

NO ONE is more "frugal " than me- I have to be- lol - but I think you will be sorry if you use the air line - some have told me it wont stay in - and the ice tube is about the same price I am told - I already have the fish line because I use it as gravity feed rain system for the tops of my Jax and baby cages - I just did not want to have to buy something if I already had something that will work - but for $8 - you can get a whole roll of the ice tube - that is way cheaper then replacing my hoods and lights because the line popped out  ;)
and yes 1/4 "

I honestly don't know if it is necessary but I only use Blue Stripe 1/4" hosing for my tubing if I'm not using the MistKing tubing. It is a little more expensive than the standard cheap tubing at Home Depot but the PSI rating on the tubing exceeds the rating of the pump.

Those pumps can produce a lot of pressure (125 psi) and most of the cheap tubing is only rated for about half that pressure so I worry about the lines failing when I'm not around and flooding the floor. Could just be me worrying more than I need to but better safe than sorry imo.

NOPE - I will take your advice :D THANK YOU - I do not need a mess - I am already on my hubby's "list" due to the fact at 3 in the blessed AM I was chasing the loudest damn cricket you ever heard in a cage to kill it - if I hook this up wrong - I will be the cricket :p plus , this is the biggest pump mistking makes - so I agree, better safe than sorry

I used fish tank tubing once when I was running short and it couldn't handle the pressure. it burst.

I use this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rain-Bird-1-4-in-x-100-ft-Distribution-Tubing-T22-100S/202078362

Don't go spending any money though, I am sure I have a lot of this stuff, I'll bring it with me :)

ok, I thought I had enough - but I forgot, when I added the f/r ones - I cut up all my extra - lol I have it ran just short of where it needs to be - so I am sure we will be good then :) they are calling for HEAVY fog in this area in the morning- you be careful driving !! I am all set on this end :)

It's good to know of alternative tubing when "in a pinch".
You do need to be careful, though since only the Toro blue stripe has a pressure rating of 161 (versus 250 psi for MistKing) exceeding 70 PSI.

NHenn, I chuckled when I clicked on the link you provided because that particular tubing has emitters built into it, though they make similar tubing w/o emitters.
It sure makes a mess when you don't realize it and you turn on the pump.
Luckily for me, when I did this it was outside :D

well, I am all set- :D I went and got some- I hate unfinished things :p and I can still use the extra on the way for outside runs - and now I just have to tie in the new cages, but OMG- I about had a heartattack - I plugged it back in - turned it on- NOTHING  ( ummm....helps to have the power strip plugged in  :p )
I would still prefer Mistkings - but did not have time to order it - but I still say- YOU CAN NOT BEAT A MISTKING !! :)
