Almost fell for a fraud

Almost fell for a sale of a supposed 5 month old raiden line faly. It just so happened the pics of said cham sent to me was of a cham posted by a guy I know on the forums from a few months ago. Exact same pics and ad description. I asked for some fired up picks and he said he didn't have access to a camera but 100% money back guarantee if I didn't like it. SO then tonight I get an email with some fired up pics from a fully colored Faly. hmmmmmmm fully colored at 5 months???? and professional looking pics all of a sudden? The email IT WAS SENT FROM HAD TO BE REMOVED HERE PER FORUM RULES SO I WILL POST IN THE BOI SECTION. Almost had me.
 
what a wanker. if you havent responded to him again you should tell him youll send a check or something and you need to know who to make it out to.. or something like that.

Now these are the pics I was sent went I requested pics of better coloration...This is Iggy from Chameleon Alley. Great looking guy but someone is sending out these pics as if it were his own. (I hope Kevin doesn't mind but I will remove them if he wishes.) I just want to get the word out.

Ive seen those pics before as well posted by the original owner!! Why do people think they can make a quick buck by scamming someone? Really people! Get a job or put effort in breeding your own reptiles to sell and how about take your own pictures!

Im new to this forum (been here for a few months now) but have had reptiles for a bit! My female cham laid 34 eggs for me that are still fertile and are incubating as we speak! I dont like it when people (stated above) come in and ruin it for us actual new comers!! JUST SAYIN!!
 
Yup, almost had that happen to me as well. I was about to purchase a ridiculously cheap parsonii on kingsnake for $900.00 Shipped! I asked for pics and he sent pics that had been floating around for quite a while throughout all of the forums. (even did a shotty job at removing the watermark) People need a hobby, and with these people preferably not chameleon keeping!
 
Well 900.00 for a parsons would immed draw a big red flag for me. You dont see those guys for less than 1800.00 -2500.00.

Did you get Kevins/Cham Alleys permission to use his pics of ziggy? I know your just wanting to help ppl but you still shouldnt use anyones pics without permission. I know Kevin and hes a nice guy but you need to ask first. ;)

Had this happen to me 2yrs ago....guy wanted to trade me a few GTMs for some of my Ackie babies.......when I asked for pics, he sent me pics that were on wikipedia........

Found out he was goin all over Fauna and wanted to do trades with everyone......

The pics that are posted were my pics from an ad I posted back months ago. I had an ad for 2 male faly's from Iceman and those were my pics. You can go and look under my post and you'll see. They were not from a raiden bloodline at all! I'm glad you posted this problem so it will make people aware of what can happen. I only by from Jim at The Chameleon Company and Dez from Chamalot Chameleons! Their great and I highly recommend them. Dez has the other faly I had for sale and can't remember who got the faly that is in the pics that are posted. I glad you wasn't a victim of fraud!

Thanks man! I shot you a message last night when it happened. I was like hey I know those pics and sure enough....
 
The same crap was going on a few months ago with a guy from Ny. He was posting pics of a mitsio for sale. I talked to a guy who said he got taken for $500.00

Its getting to be the time of yr we see imports coming in. Seems like the scams really get bad around this time every yr. Just check the boi before buying from an unknown person. If you cant get anything there as far as history. Start asking for referalls from ppl he/she have sold too. If they are breeders or even hobbyist keepers then they would have bought & sold from someone thats known in the industry. Call the person/company and ask if theyve done business with that person and the outcome. Thats what ive done when i bought from an unknown. ;)

I remember seeing those posts too. It's a shame something like this happens and it hurts those of us who conduct honest transactions.
 
Just got the message, and it's totally cool that you posted the pics. I can't believe someone used our pictures trying to scam. There's crazy people out there. It's good you're putting this info out there so people are aware.
 
I am glad you didn't get taken and glad you posted it on BOI like I suggested. Sorry to have to tell you to fix your post but a lot of people don't know the rules. I did not want to delete your post as I feel all of us need to hear these scam attempts so we are careful.
