Aligning Lighting Schedule With Sun

Is it absolutely necessary to align the lighting schedule with the sun when the chameleon's cage is next to a window? I'm on a 9 to 9 schedule for the lights, and the sun comes up earlier and goes down a little earlier as well, but if I followed the sun's schedule I'd only get to see her when she was asleep.

No it is not necessary but it is more natural. I don't think it will harm your chameleon if that is what you mean.
