Chameleon Info:
* Your Chameleon - Male 8 month Panther Cham. 4 Months in my Care.
* Handling - Pretty much every day. He climbs on my hand and i feed him out of a cup. He also just climbs on me when im cleaning his cage. Ive had 1 cham befor this one i never handled(she bite) but this one honestly just climbs on me on his own.
* Feeding - I feed him crickets that i gut load with 1 green(collard,kale,dandelion,mustard) 1 tuber(carrot or yam) 1 fruit(orange rasberry strawberry) on a rotation and i use bee pollen and spirulina every time.
* Supplements -i use rep cal calcium with d3 and herptivite twice a week. I know this differs from what people on the forum use but the breeder i got him from recommends this schedule and they sell a lot of chams.
* Watering - i have an auto mister(1 min duration every 3 hours) a lil dripper i quarter fill once a day and i hand mist the cage completely once a day.
* Fecal Description - he takes craps twice the size of my other cham hehe also he doesnt crap every day like my old one did. He will sometimes have a lil orange in his urate but ive been told thats cuz he doesnt crap very often. He drinks ive see it every day.
* History - He has been amazingly healthy and active and he still is. he runs about like a nut case and loves to climb my arms and hang on my shoulder.
Cage Info:
* Cage Type -2x2x4 all screen cage from lllreptile
* Lighting - i use a 100w powersun in the rear left a normal house bulb on the rear right(on a upward gradient so the powersun basking spot is further away from the bulb) and a reptisun 5.0 tube on the front of the cage if he wants uvb but no heat.(i find him under this a lot)
* Temperature - 80-85 under reptisun 85-90 under the normal bulb andi keep the room at 70 degrees ambient. It my computer room so it is warm even in these cold wisconsin winters. at night the temp gets between 65-70.
* Humidity - i have a lousy humidity analog gauge. but under his bulbs its really low humidity but lower down its like 70-80 humidity pretty much all the time. I have a cool mist humidifier i run every other day but nothing can stop those lights from vamping the humidity.
* Plants -i have a large schefflera and i hung a pothos in there too.
* Placement -the cage is in a closet space i removed the doors and replaced them with a thick black curtain so he can get some privacy. It is on the floor and i know thats bad but i really have no where better to put it right now. i need to keep him away form the cats in a warm room where he can get privacy. there are no drafts at all the only heat vent is across the room and he is away from the window as well.
* Location - Wisconsin USA
Current Problem -Well Ive been cup feeding my guy for a couple months now cuz my fiance HATES insects and i was getting a few excapees. (i think i fixed that issue but havent really tried risking it. and just starting this week my guy is 1. Not shooting his tounge and 2 missing when he tries. I literally had to tap a cricket on his tounge for him to hand feed when he used ot just pop em right off my hand. This is day 3 of this strange behavior so i free ranged a few for him and he just walked up to the crickets and ate them like a beardie would. My question is is there anything i can do to help him shoot again? Is he permanantly hurt and am i hurting him worse by making him hunt now? Any help is greatly appreciated.
