Abnormal Urates

Hey there, this morning my male veiled (almost 5 mo old) had an unusally large bowel movement. The feces was much larger than normal, other than that it looked perfectly normal. It was well formed with normal color and such.

The urates however looked abnormal. It was very watery. It was jelly like and cloudy white. It did not match anything I saw pictured in the Poop 101 sticky. I wanted to get a picture but he did it right as I was walking out the door for work and I was already running a bit late.

He is a healthy eater, he consumes 25-30 crickets/day. The crickets are gut loaded with bug burger and dusted with calcium with no D3 daily and twice a month they are dusted with calcium with D3 and mulitvitamin. He has a reptisun 10.0 UVB (I use the 10 because the enclosure is 24x24x50 with fairly dense foliage) and a standard heat lamp. The temp gradient is 87 F - 78 F with the relative humidity around 50-60 throughout the day. He is on a regular misting schedule with a mistking system. Live plants in the enclosure are a Pothos and B. ficus. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Is he drinking more water than usual? If his cage happens to be drier than usual (maybe because you have had to heat the room more) he could be drinking more to compensate...and the more they drink the looser and more dilute their urates can be. If his feces themselves are not runny or very smelly that may be it. Smelly runny feces can be a sign of parasites, but you can easily get that checked by a vet.

Thank you for the reply, he has always been a shy drinker. I've only ever caught him drinking a couple of times. I'm not sure if he has been drinking more than normal. There hadn't been really any change the moisture levels the enclosure though. I got a picture of it on my lunch break though. The urate was a bit more watery this morning.

It looks like he just drank more water to me. I wouldn't worry. Mine have one like that every now and then.
