A week away!

I'm new to the forum but I thought I would say hi. I'm picking up my first chameleon next Saturday. He's a panther from Captive Creations and I've been waiting for him since he's hatched. Everything is set up and ready to go. I'm open to advice too. I still need to fill out his adult set up more way more but I'm happy with how his little condo is looking. His adult set up is 2x2x6 and will and bith vivs will have a mist king too. Anyways let me know what you think!

Oh and what's in the condo will be used to fill up the big so it will certainly be more full! The light coming from the side won't be on when Leo is in. It's just their to help grow the ficus.

Honestly if you sectioned off the large viv you could just keep him in that. To me the large viv looks great plenty of foliage and looks to be live plants I see a golden pothos in there. but as with chameleons it is a lot of trial and error. As for a mist king great idea I just hope you have a solid drainage system. Best of luck to you welcome to the forum.

id cover the soil on all your plants with rocks, some chams tend to shoot at soil. My veiled likes soil so I had to cover his plants with rocks. I also repotted all my plants and washed them and used all organic soils so if your Cham does feel the need to eat soil it's not harmful unless there's large clumps or sticks that can cause impaction.

Sorry I was looking at the smaller viv, they both look good but for now the small viv looks to be your best bet until he's older. And if you haven't already test your basking areas with probe. Good luck

Thanks for the response! I do have rocks to cover the soil and I bought the mist king right from the breeder. I haven't put the rocks on yet because I am watering the plants with just a spray bottle for now. I will have the mistking Saturday. I can't wait! the whole family is excited I am also new to plants as well so this should be fun lol

The only thing I can say is the plants are easy as long as you have a solid drainage system set up, if not the plants can die from over watering. I'm a huge fan of the mist king I'm also buying one once I upgrade my vivand have the money lol but like I said drainage is key or overwatering takes place and plants die. Glad you went with mist king instead of the other garbage misters like monsoon and zoo med garbage.

Best of luck to you, it is very exciting. I've had reptiles all my life many diff kinds and so far my Cham is my fav. I do suggest because I know your excited and it's tempting but to leave you Cham alone for the first week let him get use to his new viv and also only handle him if u have to..my Cham warmed up to me after about a few weeks. All depends though you could get a Cham that loves attention. I was very excited myself when I first got my Cham I think I handled him a little too much at first I will say they remember everything lol and some do not like to be handled. Like I said mine warmed up to me in a few weeks and I was able to hand feed. Now he knows when it's dinner time lol. Best of luck to ya

I know the breeder at captive creations has been amazing with getting me ready to bring him home and I've bugged her so much with questions and she's always been happy to answer. I love seeing the progress pic's with this community so I hope to take lots of pics and post them as Leo grows and his color starts to come out! and Decadancin I will better learn to utilize the emojies . I do need to figure out a proper drainage in the big viv too.

There are great drainage ideas for chams on YouTube. my system is just set on a plastic garage rack with a bin under to catch the drainage I simply empty the water once a week.
