A question on my eggs...

My female laid 21 eggs about 6 months ago. In the first week 3 shriveled up and I tossed them so down to 18. No last month I took a look at them and they are huge and pearly white but one had shriveled up so I tossed that down to 17. I looked again today and another on had dies and I'm down to 16, is this normal for eggs to be dying this late in the process. My setup is just 2 Tupperware containers with vermiculite that was moistened enough at the beginning so when you squeezed it you would get a drop or two out of it. Now when I open the lids the tops have a decent about of condensation on them so I normally shake that off the lids and then close them back up. Can anyone critique this.

Is it possible the shrivelled ones are simply not moist enough, that the medium around them is less moist than it is around the others?

Ive not had (panther) eggs die after several weeks in

The temps in my house is always aroun 72 and they are in a closet that cant be but a few deg. warmer...

You might need to add some water. Mine got dry and I had to take an eye dropper and put in water slowly and carefully all around the edge and between the eggs.....just slow drops being careful not to drop any on the eggs.

The eggs deflate/shrink in when they are close to hatching....are you throwing out eggs that are ready to hatch??

No I don't think that is the case, all the eggs are huge and white this egg had gone to a small really indented brown, I even opened it up to see what stage it was in and there was a very very small to the point you had no clue what it was thing inside. The eggs are 5 days short of six months. should they be checked ever other day or so or how should I go about that?
