a little outside the box thought...

hey everyone,
i was thinking, since this is my first cham, could i use his smaller juvy cage as his feed/mist station when he is big enough to go to the 24x24x48?
my thought is to make a set of rails that woould keep him elevated from the cage floor and drop in his roaches/crix/worms. that way i have a controlled enviro but he still has the chase factor. then after a good feed i could mist him, my thought there is, i would not have to be concerned with the floor of cage having time to dry out.

oh well, it's a thought...

any feedback?:p

I'm not sure Im understanding? Are u talking about making a false bottom in a large cage so his space is small while he's a juvi?

not really, just when he moves to the large cage permanently, then use the small cage for feeding and misting. so take him to the small cage for dinner and shower...

Depends on how much handling your cham wants. If the process adds too much stress, I would not recommend this. If the cham likes to be handled and gets used to a routine it could be O.K. You will probably still have to mist the large enclosure though, due to the need for drinking source and humidity control. Your cham can still hunt for food in the larger enclosure, it will just be harder to monitor his feeding. This is the reason I cup feed. Enough crickets still get out for him to hunt and he is good at it! ;) Hope this answers the question.
