A Few Gutload Questions

Celery tops (leaves) are definately safe and ok, dont know about nutritional content of the stem though, be full of moisture however.
Onions probly not, acidic. Raddish greens yes, the raddish itself????

Thanks! Yeah i would like to use the actual radish and celery stem, but only if its safe

I have used celery leaves and small pieces of celery...but not much and not often. I have also used a radish once in a while...again not much and not often.

I've never tried onion and don't intend to...no real reason why...just don't want to try it.

why dont you often use radish/celery?

The raddish itself is probably safe enough (dont quote me :) ) but I dont know what its nutrient values are. I prefer fresh asian greens, brocoli and others depending what your gutloading.

I figure its good to have variety but there are other more nutritional greens and veggies to use more often.

broccoili is high in oxolates which causes calcium binding. its really bad for your cham. so is tomAto and spinach. stop using it ASAP.

I use sweet potato, carrot, orange and collarded greens. I also use a pre-made gutload the night before feeding.

I use radish tops every summer since I grow them and eat them. Hasnt caused any harm, but there are other greens with known and probably better nutritional value to choose from. In my case, dandelion is a rampant weed that I use frequently both for gutloading and in my own salads. Other greens I use include mustard greens and romain, again because I grow them for me and they are good for me and the bugs and chameleons alike.

JoJackson I would remove Brocoli from your gutload if I were you.
Any member of the cabbage family should be avoided.
