8 week veiled swollen eye

Came home from work today and noticed his left eye was swollen. He can open it a bit and it looks normal, but when he rests he squints it. I noticed a small bulge under the eye socket? As well. Only thing I changed was his heat bulb, from a zoomed daylight 60 watt to a exoterra daylight 60 watt. Temps are around 85-90 at his highest basking spot. I mist 3 times a day, feed him calcium w/o d3 almost every feed, and am starting to do repashy super calcium 1-2 times a week. I'm a bit worried

Also he ate 2 wax worms yesterday for the first time, and when I got home he ate three calciworms (Phoenix worms)

You can try misting a bit extra and see if some droplets may help your Cham dislodge debris from under the eye turret. Looks very uncomfortable in that picture.

There may be something stuck in his eye, misting longer may trigger your Cham to flush his eyes, I got the advice to use saline drops to help flush out the eye, my veiled recently developed something similar and was proscribes an antibiotic for some bacteria that was a little higher than what the vet said is "acceptable" that being said there may need to be a vet visit

Misting worked! His eye seemed to clear up and open. I misted his actual body with warm water and kept the cage nice and wet. I'm thinking it was the exoterra bulb, or he scratched it. Still has a bit of swelling underneath but not bad. I'm thinking my humidity was really low, maybe that affected him? I went out and bought a shower curtain to hang around the sides of my reptibreeze and got a analog humidifier gauge. Now should I cover the three back sides and just leave the door mesh opened? Or maybe just two sides? It gets hot here in San Diego ( I live more east) and my room gets really hot as well. I want to keep the humidity up and this seems like a good way.

Again thanks for the help, I'll make sure to mist him every morning before he basks. And keep the humidity better. My first chameleon and the research never ends!!

Glad things worked out for you two! As far as the shower curtain goes it all depends on your humidity requirements. Just put it on one side check your humidity with your new hygrometer, and then move on to the next side if it needs to be higher, and the next side and so on. Good luck

Thanks! I'll try that, I also went out and got a soft white 25w bulb. The 60w in there seems way too hot. Is it true baby chameleons like it around 70-75 and adults closer to 95? It's just way too hot in my room. I'm burning up can't imagine him with a hot basking lamp.

Also where's the best place to place the hygrometer? Near the top or middle?

Place the hygrometer away from the basking lamp. I like to put it towards the top where your chameleon spends most time, but I also use 2. It can give you piece of mind that you are getting accurate readings.
Also, you want to keep a close watch on the eye to make sure the problem is resolved. The added moisture could have made it feel better, but the issue could still be there.
