5.5 Gallon tank for single pygmy?

Could I keep a single pygmy in a 5.5 gallon tank? It's 16in L x 8in W x 10in H.

Rule of thumb (from what I understand) is 10 gallons for the first pygmy or pair, then ten gallons extra for every female you add.

It would probably be okay, but my question would be ... why a single pygmy?
These are (in my opinion and experience) very social animals that thrive in groups and, in some ways, depend on each other.
Are you thinking of getting a single animal because you want to use this enclosure?
If you want to experience pygmy chameleons, you need to set them up properly:
18x18x24 exoterra or similar terrarium with 1.2 or 1.3

The truth is....I'm running out of room in my room for more animals, LOL! And I've got a spot by the reef tank that a 5.5G would fit

get a tarantula or centipede. the vietnamese giant centipedes are freakin awesome! either should be fine in a 5.5, ive seen people keep them in mason jars.

Ive kept single pygs in 5.5 gallon tanks before. I kept 2 males in 2 of the tanks, they did fine. If it is well planted they can be hard to find so its kind of a lame setup i thought. I wasnt a big fan of pygs though.

NO. Get an exo terra or a minimum of a ten gallon tank. That's just too small unless your rearing a baby. I have many pygmies and would not keep them in anything that small.
After you set up the substrate (which you have only with pygmies) there will not be much living room.
