Current Problem - When I first got melo, he ate two crickets (large) and a superworm. I got him pinheads but he would not touch them. The next day he did not eat. He processed the food and his droppings looked normal. The third day there were 4 med/large crickets in his cage but would not touch them. When i got home, i tried a superworm and he ate it right away. Ive heard mixed reviews about feeding superworms as a staple, and would like to be patient with melo, at the same time he is really skinny and his rib cage is visable. I want to make sure hes eating correctly. I dusted the super worms with repcal. Any thoughts? Should i try to go back to smaller crickets? Is it ok to just keep feeding him the supers? Thanks for any help you can provide, this little guy means the world to us!

no, do not keep feeding him supers exclusively for the sake of seeing him eat. If you want to feed a nutritious, lowfat worm, try silkworms. Supers are high in fat and should be used sparingly. Also, as you can see they do sometimes prefer them over crickets and will try and hold out until you give in!!!. If you only provide crickets he should eat them eventually. Also, you can gutload your supers as you do your crickets as they eat just about everything fruits and vegetable. This way when you do feed them they will be a much more healthy treat.

Thank you carol. How long would you recommend waiting? Should i leave crickets in his cage all day? Im not feeding him just to see him eat, i just want him to be healthy. Hes so young so I did not want him to starve. Thanks again for all your help.
