2nd clutch and mated Oct 6, 2009

My female dropped her first clutch of 21 eggs on the bottom of her cage over a span of 2 weeks. Of those 21, I still have 9 that have not molded and are getting larger. She laid 23 more this morning and this time in her laying bin as I expected the first time. Is there a chance that these are infertile? Can anyone tell by looking at the eggs from the pics?

Depending on the conditions, females can produce three fertile clutches. Considering food and temperatures are right that is.

Cool. My female should be laying her 2nd clutch soon from the mating that took October 25th. I guess since your just laid and was waited early October then i should be expecting another clutch soon.

Yeah they look fertile to me to.

Thanks for the replies. I was excited about the female laying her eggs in the bin yesterday as opposed to dropping them on the floor of the cage, but this morning when I went to check on her, she was coming out of the bin with dirt on her nose and had dug a couple inches in another spot. Could it be that she still has more to lay even though the 23 were buried on the bottom of the bin?

If you removed the eggs before she was completely done burying the hole they will sometimes go back down, dig a little where you removed eggs, and make the soil packed down. I think their instincts do not let some females finish before covering the hole. At least with most of my females that is my observation. Good lcuk with the eggs.

The eggs were completely buried but I think you are right. I checked on her this morning and she was eager to eat and drink. No longer has the dark gravid colors so I must have gotten the eggs out right after she was done laying. She has not been digging the last 2 days. thanks, Brian

I grew up in in detroit but am staying in royal oak now. It's a big difference. Where I used to live, on rosa parks just north of the davison, I was the only white person for blocks and felt completely at home. On the street I live on now everyone is 80+ years old and ambulances come every other day and then houses go up for sale. Lol. It sucks, I miss the city. I've been to southgate a couple times. Mainly basketball games when I was in high school and shit. But before I moved out here I didn't leave detroit much.

yeah, I really miss Michigan sometimes but talking to some of my buddies lately sounds like the economy is real bad there. Detroit is always hit hard in a recession. I'm glad to be in dallas when it comes to that. I moved to Dallas in 1990 but i go back every year or 2 to hang out and do some fishing. Glad to meet another Michigander on here.
