So in May this year I bought myself a 3 month old veiled chameleon. I knew absolutely nothing about chameleons, or any reptiles, which was irresponsible, but thanks to this forum he's a happy, healthy boy. It was a steep & nail-biting learning curve, & on many occasions I have panicked about little things, thinking he was going to die. Things that I now know are part & parcel of chameleon ownership. I've changed lighting, heating, supplements, cages...everything, many times on the advice from this forum. I've been prepared for shockers like the hunger strike, sperm plugs & the horrors of wang waving. I've learned to breed silkworms & how to gutload. I've been thru cham teen tantrums & unexplained stess & the old 'suicide drop' without incident.
7 months down the line & I now also have a carpet named Boo, a panther named Alfie, 3 pygmys & plans to buy a bradypodion.
I finally feel some confidence in my husbandry but have learned that there's always room for improvement, to embrace constructive criticism & that some things just come with experience.
So thank you to this forum & to the members I've met in person, particularly MissLily. Merry christmas & a happy new year from Neelix, Boo, Alfie & the 3 wise monkeys.
