1.) my chams poop is a little orange, and i know this means he's dehydrated, but i dont understand. he has a dripper on all day that goes off every second or so, and i mist for about 5 minutes 2 or 3 times a day, and he hates being misted himself! i also try and gutload the crix with juicy stuff, like orange slices, apples, and i even have a calcium fortified crix drink..i know hornworms and siklworms will help, but its a pain for me to order anything until march, as im not yet 18 and have to beg my mom to do it, which is a pain in itself -.- help?

2.) i was explaining to my mom the issue with uvb and windows. linus LOVES to bask in the window when it gets sunny, but i dont understand why, as he is not getting anything out of it. but mom told me our windows are soo old, they probably only filter out some of the rays, not all. so is it beneficial that he basks in the sun through the window?

They recognise the sun as a heat source rather than UV source. Mine love to bask by a window too. With regard to hydration, was the urate totally orange or just a little at the tip? How long was it since his last one? The longer the urate stays in the body, the more water gets absorbed from it, thus when a cham drinks every day but doesn't poop for a week or so, the urate will have some orange on the part that has been in the body longest. You will notice that the bit that leaves the body last is always whitest!

If you want to encourage him to drink, try using a plastic dropper (such as an eye dropper) and drip water onto his nose, although I know from experience that the horn can get in the way! :D Mine have a dropper each and I drop water onto a leaf first thing in the morning for Monty to drink before I refill their drippers. Amy will drink from her dropper most evenings just before lights out, yet I never see her use her dripper! She is just a lazy princess and likes to be waited on, lol!

his poo was mostly white, like, half white and gradually changed to a light orange :p and ill try the dripper the idea :) and he loves his window, im so happy i put his cage where i did, as soon as the sun comes up, he crawsl on the back of his cage and his patterns really come out, so i think he's happy :) but figures..i give him a normal basking spot, and a uvb basking spot, and he uses neither -.- haha

Just make sure that his temps don't get too high whilst the sun is shining through. Monty gets some sun on his viv in the morning, but when I go to work I leave the lounge door open to block it so he doesn't overheat! When I am home and it's sunny I leave him to bask but check on him often!
