Is this a tarsal spur?

So I was reading a bunch of threads about sexing veilds and it made me question if mine was a female. After looking at it closely, I think the store told me the wrong thing (surprise, surprise!).

So for all the experts out there, tell me if this looks like a tarsal spur to you.

I have two boys? Noooooo!!!! Now the naming process gets more difficult. I was thinking the spur would be like a big raptor claw LOL! Glad I started looking at pictures!

Lol! I can see how you thought that though - it sounds like something that you might see on a big rooster rathr than a chameleon! But yeah, if both your chams' back feet look like that then you have two boys! At least you won't have the whole egg laying process to worry about!

The egg thing was a big concern for me. But it's all good. My girlfriends thought she was the cutest thing ever and the boy panther was just "meh". But that's because the veiled is easily handled and the panther is almost psychotic and will sometimes jump, so I don't even mess with him anymore unless I need to. Wonder if my friends will be like "eeeww she's a he?" LOL

I wouldn't handle too often as it stresses most chameleons out, even if they don't look like they are stressed. Enough stress leads to an early death. It's best to leave them be unless you are giving them a quick once over, giving them a shower, taking them out for sun or to free range, or if the animal walks out of the cage onto your hand by itself without any prompting. Chameleons are more like expensive art. Look don't touch.

I still don't see my guys even after seeing this picture. I wonder if some are harder to notice at young ages. For sure mine is boy though because he is so colorful.

It looks like you have a panther from your avatar. They don't have tarsal spurs like the Veilds.
