Big on handwashing anyways
Thanks, I got what I was looking for here.
Im pretty big on handwashing anyways, and I always used to after feeding Zippy and working on her enclosure.
I had a friend who got scratched and bit by a cat. He was a real macho man, and did not seek medical...
Do chams really have salmonilla?
Theres something I was told about how you should wash hands after handling a cham.
Is tat really true, or just another myth?
I have just recieved my new MistKing system last night. It has three misting nozzles, and the no-drip backflow preventer (or at least thats what I THINK it is).
I have a 2x2x4 screen enclosure with bendy branches, UVB Repti-sum bulb, basking light, and a water pan to catch over flow...
Books can be helpful too.
I just took a minute to look on Amazon.com for books about chameleons. There are a few books that look promising.
I already have all of the basic stuff about the lighting, hydration, and general pet care. I am looking for a book that goes beyond the basics for...
Thankyou all so much
My girl was bought from a pet store. They said she was a six month old CB Ambilobe Panther cham.
I did not recognize that she was having trouble until it was too late.
Then, when I did realize she was having trouble, I did not know what to do about it.
I did...
I want to put together a first aid kit for my next cham.
I have no vetrenary training, but I think it would be good to be prepared with some basics. I have lost Zippy. I believe i have done everything that I knew was right. I just didnt have the experience to be able to tell that she was...
Is it OK to help with shedding? I can see the new skin undernieth, and its so vibrant and colorful, even for a girl. She just looks miserable, and I want to help her get all new again.
There are huge flakes (30% to 50% of her surface area), and smaller ones too, that are just hanging there...
Help for all of you...
A phobia is an example of a 'single incident learning'. In this case the mind learns to be afraid (or sick to stomach, ie, some response), instantly and automaticaly whenever a certain stimulous is presented.
To overcome a phobia, one need only recode the...
Specificaly, what did you do?
I have read about taking chams for a shower, but never bothered to consider the specifics.
One post seemed concerned about the potintial chemical exposure a cham could get from cleaners used to clean the shower.
Do you bring the cage into the bathroom...
Letting it sit...
... gives the Chlorine time to separate from the water molecules. Its not a strong chemical bond, and it breaks down over time.
Try mixing water and bleach. If you put this on something right away it will clean or bleach whatever you applied it to. If you let it sit...
Thanks for the links
Prosser animal hospitol IS my main vet.
Coleman Vet Clinic was the quack who manhandled my little Zippie so badly. I just didnt call Prosser because I assumed they wouldnt do Chams.
Ill call Prosser later today and see if they do Chameleons. I still wont take...
There are no vets
that know (really know) about reptiles, especialy Chameleons in my area.
This vet actualy told me that there is just not enough of a reptile/chameleon population in my area to support a specialty practice. Even if you add birds to your specialty, its still not enough...
She wasnt even sick or anything. I put her through a terrable experience. I took my sweet little Zippie girl to the vet today just to make sure all was good with her.
That Bozo grabbed her and flopped her around and prodded at her delicate little body, like she was a kitten or something...
I was considering MistKing myself, but...
... I am mildly concerned that with all the interest in MistKing, I will find myself at the back of another back-order line.
I dont know how all of this works. I suppose that if Marty ordered a hundred MistKing pumps, tubing, nozzles, fittings and...
I am continuing to be amazed at my girls capabilities.
The room her cage is in has a glass door with a lace curtain over the window. I swear that she can see me watching her after I walk out. I bet its about 10 feet away and through a lace covered door. I would not be at all surprised to...
A thought...
... You can buy a brand new, purpose built, screen cage for less than $120.00. it will work and be safe too.
OR
YOu can get (or use) a free sterio cabinet and spend a huge amount of time and (probably) more than $120.00 fixing it up, and STILL not have something that...
Some ideas
Chams change colors to reflect thier moods. Notice, that when your cham is left alone and you have just come home, and he is all mellow, what does his color look like. Its probably kinda light brownish. When he is excited and afraid, what color is he?
Now look at yourself. You...
Bad idea bub!
That pressboard is full of glue and other chemicals. Even the sawdust that makes up the panels could be toxic to your pal. That kind of wood does not stand up well to moisture. You will have a lot of moisture in that cage.
There is a Do It Yourself PVC and screen-mesh...
