I think he's just an older Cham. His claws had shed build up. I removed those clumps from his him claws. I thought the clump of shed was hindering his grip.
I took his bottom plants, branches and vines out earlier in the year due to him falling. The black plastic netting keeps him from falling to the bottom. It would be a 3 feet fall. The netting makes it less than a 1 foot fall from any area in his enclosure.
Carmelo has started falling again. This time his grip is really weak. He can't climb up the tree swing. This is not related to grasshoppers. We have out of hoppers for 1 month. He is eating crickets and hornworms. I don't think a vet trip is warranted. I really think his age is a factor.
