He's in the cage but the cage is usually open so he can free range through my room on the various plants. I tend to feed him in there so it helps contain the food to a central location. He knows to stroll in there to feed.
I just went throught this in my room a few weeks ago. I was using a few types of bran and oatmeal as the substrate. I didn't even realize I had a mite infestation until it was too late, and there were billions of them all ofer the corner of the room.
If it's what I'm thinking its a grain mite...
Would you happen to be talking about the tent catepillars that are all over the trees? We have them here in Jersey too. If that's what you're talking about I believe the hairs on the catepillar can be an irritant to the chameleon. I may be wrong but I believe I have heard that before, and if...
I try to adjust the timers for the lighting to correspond to the outside light. I for the most part make weekly or biweekly tweaks to the timer. Usually my chameleons are headed to their sleeping areas before the lights go out.
I only hand mist my dart frogs. I let the mist king do the misting for me. I used to hand spray, but the amount of water my mellers wanted was causing my arms to hurt. It just wasnt feasable anymore. But I still have a large hand pump sprayer in case the power goes out for a while and the mist...
Wow those are really nice. I never really considered getting these, but now that I've seen the pics I'll have to keep my eye out at the next show I go to. There's usually a vendor there that has some mantids. Time for me to do some reading and research on them...
They have awesome cultures. I got some cultures from him last summer. I also got supplies to culture my own, so now I'll never run out. But if I do run out I know where I'll get more.
I have very limited experience with them. I had a colony once for my brevs. They liked them at first, but they preferred the small crickets and fruit flies. After a while they didn't pay attention to them much, so I stopped using them.
I'm sure there's many more people that have used them with...
It was a very odd story. When I first asked him where he got them he asked me if I knew what they were. When he realized I knew he started talking about them. It really was a bit of a story he told me. Personally unless I'm very familiar with the vendor/breeder at a show I take what I'm told...
Dagy24 - congrats on your 1st show. Amazing how many people they can cram in there isn't it? I only saw female panthers there too. They looked nice and healthy. I would have thought there would have been a few males. I'll have to keep an eye out for the males next show.
ChamOh - The vendor...
...the amount of chameleons at this show compared to the past Hamburg shows? I was going there to try to get some dart frogs and feeders, but thank goodness I didn't have an open screen enclosure or twelve at home. I saw several vendors with veileds, including at least 3 or 4 with the...
I dont have any pictures of the fish, but I still have an african cichlid tank, and if and when the frontosa decides to make himself photogenic I'll grab a shot of him.
Here was one of my favorite Africans. I forget the exact species but some type of compriceps.
That's one of my favorite Africans also. That's the lamprologus compressiceps. I've had several of those. I also used to have the Haplochromis Compressiceps, which some people refer...
The Habba Mist is loud. Very loud. It was loud enough that the vibrations seemed to annoy a few chameleons when I did have one. The mist really isnt a mist. It's a glorified dripper with a little pressure behind it pushing out the water. The reservoir for the water is small and required frequent...
