Oops sorry I meant to tag you, not Erkle! Does your cham have eggs? If so, my theory with Roxy is the eggs are possibly pressing on some nerves or her spine and causing the discoloration. I also know when vets stick chams with a needle it can cause discoloration
@ERKleRose it's worth mentioning that Roxy was constipated for quite some time and, per our vet’s recommendation, I upped her humidity and misted her longer with warm water. It did help her poop, but even before she pooped I noticed the black markings were starting to fade. I don't know if it...
The black markings on Roxy’s abdomen and shoulders have almost faded away completely. However, her tail and leg are still black so we are continuing to monitor her. Good luck with your cham!
Yes I have seen discoloration like that in other cases of egg binding too. However, she isn’t showing any signs of egg binding like lethargy, loss of appetite, or straining so I’m not sure what to make of it
Today is the 11th day of no BM. About a month ago she didn’t poop for two weeks. On the 14th day of no poop I gave her a couple drops of olive oil and the next day there was a poop. It was normal sized and her pooping schedule went back to normal after that. I always thought perhaps she wasn’t...
Interesting. I am not ruling out that it’s related to impaction, but she started showing the black markings on April 8 (possibly before- I have a vague memory of seeing what I thought was dirt on her foot before April 8 but might’ve been those black markings) and then had a bowel movement on...
I have not brought her to any vets yet because I’m trying to keep things as stress-free as possible so she will lay her eggs. Thank you for your reply!
Update on Roxy
The black markings are now on both sides of her body but are not spreading any more as far as I can see. She started shedding her head and back on Sunday and it looks like her legs will shed soon too. She is still active and eating (however, she went off her food for two days...

I live in Southern California near LA. I've seen people recommend Dr. Greek on these forums but they're booked for the next month. I asked to be put on the waiting list in case something opens up
I've been especially anxious going in there because she has been gaping at me any time I come near her cage. She never used to do that unless my hand was too close to her. My family and I used to go into the garden house to paint or read etc. Since she has had her gravid colors we all stopped...
Today I set it up so I have the sheet over the top part and leave a gap near the bottom. Before it was the opposite; top half uncovered, bottom half covered. I've always gotten mixed messages about how much privacy they need when they are gravid. I know how important it is they have 100% privacy...
Ok. I rarely go into our garden house except to mist/feed/check on her. I also keep all the feeder insects in there and I go in there sometimes to get bugs for our bearded dragon/change the insects food. Other than that she is alone. I thought covering the top half is a good idea because it...
Very helpful, thank you. I want her to pass her eggs quickly and without any problems but this potential gout has me concerned she won't. I want to do everything I can to help her through this. I will continue to cover her cage with a sheet and leave her alone. I was told by another chameleon...
