chilly is about 13 months old if the pet store gave me the right info when i got him. I use calcium no Phosphorus with D3 and it says 2:0 on the bottle if that helps lol, I usually feed my crickets Apples, Carrots, and a cut up potato.....would you suggest me gut loading any differently?
Thanks guys all the kudos actually goes to my Finacees MOthers Boyfriend he was going to make the enclosure for me and decided to do the whole inside set up, all in all the cost to me was to set up a router for them which I already had lol so it cost me $15 in the end.....
as for the water...
yup im misting and usually have ice cubes or a cup on there for dripping but back to my latest question lol how much do you feed your chams and do you feed them every day?
Thank you for the link its a very good read.
now under food it says that once the cham hits about a year they will do fine on 3-5 every other day, now once again it seems as if the Pet store gave me incorrect info they recomended 8 per day....what do you all feed your veilds? should i cut...
its really a shame that people at pet stores are not a more reliable source for things like this, they had advised me I should use Moss and have a waterfall or misting but the suggested waterfall its just a shame
ya didn't realize that it was such a bad idea to have the waterfall in there but ya ill remove it and continue to mist it and maybe soon get an automatic
bacteria shouldn't be a problem since ill be cleaning it quite regularly I have no problems misting him i'm just curious to if its necessary but Ill continue to do so :)
also illcheck out mistking thanks for that cush :)
Ryan
I have a smallish waterfall, about 10 inches tall in the cage that is about 42 inches, tall I have been still misting with that in there but is it necessary to do so with a waterfall.
Thanks in advance,
Ryan
Thanks and no live plants yet but I will get some, does anyone have any suggestions on real plants?
also the pics are resized now sorry for them being so big
ok so I have a Male Veiled Cham(Chilly) he is just over a year old I do believe. I just recently had a cage built and just wondering everyones thoughts
right now the dimensions are 27" Wide * 18" Deeo * 42" Tall, from bottom up till the top of the cage(the tallest part he can climb) is 66" tall...
will do, now chilly is a male and like i said i had him for about 3 weeks and he can get pretty aggressive if I attempt to handle him, is there a chance he may get a little friendlier or is it kind of different chameleon, different way they will react kinda thing, he is about 11 months old I do...
the moss was highly recommended by the store, its bought from the store and its says on the package that its natural forest moss, if he eats some of it its never very much most of it will fall back to the bottom of the cage, so my best bet would be to switch to organic soil and large cleaned...
so heres another question, sometimes Chilly will go to get a cricket and take up some of the moss, will the moss do any harm to him if its only small amounts? The Pet store says no but I think I would trust someone else that actually owns a chameleon lol.
Thanks,
Ryan
oh really thats nice to know, shows how much people at the pet store no lol, but thats great I had been reading quite a bit over the last month at figured that the lighting would be something I would not have to worry about as the people at the pet store seemed really knowledgeable.
but...
hey thanks for the replies, he always has his eyes open in the daytime just laying around sometimes, usually doesn't actually sleep until his lights go out around 9:30 PM and is usually still sleeping until just before his lights go on at 7:30 AM
ya he is starting to get settled in, I was just a bit worried because I know if they sleep through the day its a bad sign I just wanted to make sure that laying down is not the first step towards sleeping lol.
but thank you for your quick repsonse.
