Yes, she is an egg layer, but she does currently have a pot of sand at the bottom of her cage for this purpose. What I also occasionally do while I have her in my hands, is just feel if I can in fact feel any eggs. So I don't think this might be the problem :( But thanks anyway!

I will try this, add some variety to their diets. What is a problem here in Cape Town is that the variety of food is restricted to crickets and meal worms. So I will try and make the crickets a bit fatter. - I bought this light in June/July this year. I do replace this light every 6 - 8 months...

Hello all, I have through the months been noticing behavioral changes in my Flap Neck Chameleon, first things first: Chameleon Info: Your Chameleon - Female Flap Necked Chameleon, has been with us for 4 years. Unknown age. Handling - Lately a lot, as she keeps falling off branches and...

That is very interesting, I did know that dogs had it as I once made the horrible mistake in trying to clip my poor dogs toe nail and I slipped. I did not know that chams actually had the same thing. Thanks!

So I have an idea to build a sort of pretend free range cage. And I wanted to know if this would be a. Possible, and b. actually be better. I currently have a screen mesh cage, and the last straw was when my Fang broke one of her nails on this and it got infected. What I want to do is get...

Let's start off this thread by stating very clearly that I AM NOT GOING TO CLIP MY CHAMS NAILS. And I am also not condoning clipping of her nails. I know that they need them for grip, and clipping should never be considered. What I want to know, is that I read somewhere a long time ago (I...

I went back to the same vet today. She tells me that the toe looks better save for the fact that she cut it yesterday. They started her on Baytril today. They did weigh her before injecting her but I'm concerned about the discoloration where they injected her with. I stay in Cape Town South...

Forgot to mention: I was told to clean the wound tomorrow morning with a salt water solution and I was given an ointment in a siringe, after I clean the wound, I should get this ointment in the wound and this will help. She did not tell me what the name was of this ointment

Okay. So I had her at a vet today. Outcome: toe is very infected, they cut it open and drained it. What came out was blood and puss with the consistency of cottage cheese. There are a few things my vet told me that I am a bit concerned about. (first time at this vet) 1. She tells me...

Chameleon Info: Your Chameleon - She is a beautiful Flap Necked Chameleon, I have had her five years. Handling - Not unless I have to, the only time I handle her, is if I have to clean her cage and take her out, even then I just take the branch she sits on and move her, I found out long ago...

Great stuff. I haven't done this (But betting on me, it will be done after 15 minutes from getting home) I use a feeder cup so I don't think I'm in danger of this, but better to be safe than sorry. Thanks guys. Yes and the river stones will also look pretty. I normally boil big stones I pick...

This is great replies guys, short question, I have a ficus Benjamin in the cage with potting soil, and another pot (That I need to take out, because I had it in there for her to lay her annual eggs) Both containing potting soil. Same scenario, what happens if she ingests the potting soil?

Really? That is actually great news, I still have the standard tubes, I just had to rebuy mine because it was past it's six month period. If I now go back to the pet shops, how do I know that they are the new (safe) ones. My pet shop only stocks exo terra and Repti sun. Thanks

Hi all, Sorry if I am reposting and asking what has been said hundreds of times. But I simply cannot find anything using the search (I don't think the search button likes me) Okay, first question: 1. When I was a beginner chameleon pet keeper, I learnt that substrate in a chameleon cage...

Great cage! What are you going to do with the lighting? As I have a similar cage and I am baffled as to what to do to get the lighting just perfect (The uvb light especially)

Guys, any replies to this?

Hi all, First of all, Happy New Year to everyone! We moved into a new place, and we realized that there are a lot of fish moths in our new place. We googled what we can use in order to get rid of them, and we got the results of Fendona. They say that it is "pet safe", but they do not...

Extremely cool! :D

Ok no picking up. I have added water today (Just sprayed it against the sides), I'll add my hygrometer in there to see what humidity range the incubator has, I threw away fourteen eggs today - They were dented in (flat even) with green mold on them. - Could this not be because the...

Hi there, My Flap Neck Chameleon laid a batch of eggs during Easter weekend. (April 10 - 11 2009) and has been incubating in a shoe box with temp around 20 - 25 C. These eggs have been incubating close to 5 months. (Some of them have fallen flat, shrunken and even molded) - These referred to...
